Altares/Shrines

In this series of shrines I explore traditions and beliefs in Latin American culture that have survived colonization. Offerings and rituals that are kept alive in everyday life, outside and in the home. Traditions offer a tangible link to the ancestral past, allowing one to connect to one's heritage, one's ancestors, and the stories of one's predecessors. This connection can foster a sense of belonging, pride and understanding of one's roots.
I want to be a tool that helps them not to be forgotten. I want to keep their stories alive and spread them with my works. Traditions are not static, they can evolve and adapt over time. They carry with them universal questions that unite everyone.
