May 1st in Berlin they celebrate May Madness. I went to the Kreuzberg district and ended up at a punk bar with an open stage, there was a new band every half hour. I took pictures of the people in the bar. A few months later when I was home again, I painted some small paintings of the punks in ink and watercolor. I took pictures of the works and posted them on Instagram. I had hashtagged the Instagram photos with #berlin #kreutzberg #trinkteufel and a few days went by and several people started commenting on the photos and tagging each other in the photos! They had found paintings of themselves. There was a woman who wrote to me: "You painted me, why?" I told the story and asked if she liked the picture. She liked the painting but not the title, she wanted it to be called "Pink as Fuck". Full of inspiration, I made a series of works as a tribute to Jenny Schmidt, the woman in the picture, or as she put it herself "Berlin's oldest punk".
